The Fossdyke is understood to be the oldest navigable man-made waterway that is still in use in Britain today. Dating back to Roman times it was originally built as a means of joining the River Trent and the River Witham to give the Romans access to the heart of England from the Wash. Burton Waters is based just two miles by water to the center of historic Lincoln where you can moor as a visitor at the Brayford Pool.
Burton Waters is probably one of the UK’s most prestigious purpose built inland marina’s, which took thirteen years in the planning. Construction started in 1999, and the very first boats arrived in 2000. With over two hundred commercial moorings we have had over sixteen years experience. We use this knowledge to constantly strive to make Burton Waters the very best it can be.
